North Carolina Dyslexia Solutions Success Stories
"We are so thankful to have come across the Davis Program. It was an answer to prayer. Some neighbors spoke highly of their experience with Davis and so when we had the chance to work with Cassie we jumped on it. Cassie listened closely to our concerns and worked patiently with our son. She was engaging, enthusiastic, and gracious as she helped him learn techniques for refocusing after triggers distracted his attention and the basic pieces of the Davis program. Our son loved working with clay and experiencing reading in this way. We have been using the program for a little over 6 months and although it is slow going we can see progress not only in our son's reading level but also in his fluency and confidence as well. Thank you."

"Being a part of the Davis Dyslexia program has changed my life tremendously. As a child I struggled with reading out loud and comprehension. A high school teacher brought to my attention that I might be dyslexic because I showed some of the same signs as her son. I never sought professional assistance to be officially diagnosed. As I progressed through college I knew I always had to study extra hard and still some times miss the concept. Expanding on my professional career presented challenges that caused me to finally seek assistance for adult dyslexia.
I am so thankful for Cassie and the Davis Dyslexia program. My eyes have been opened to a new understanding of why I think the way I do and how my brain operates. I love the fact that I am not labeled as having a disability but a talent. The program unlocked a new thought process that has allowed me to be successful in furthering my education. I knew that I was a visual learner, but modeling what we call trigger words in clay confirmed it. Being able to have a visual in my mind of the word and its meaning brought into perspective that it is necessary for me to write my own notes for school in order to have a full understanding of the material.
The tools gained from this program have allowed me to be more focused when studying, recognizing when disorientation occurs and getting back on point quicker. The reading exercises helped to improve my comprehensive level when reading material for the first time. The program also has assisted in decreasing my test anxiety.
I suffered as a child in school not knowing that I was dyslexic. I wish the program were available to me as a child. Over the years I adapted and adopted ways of learning to get by. Being that I was faced with these challenges again as an adult, the Davis Dyslexia program has been a lifesaver. I am forever thankful and grateful to the program and to Cassie for working with me during this process.
